RD-08 System Program ( Ver.1.01 )

HOW TO KNOW THE VERSION
Before you start, check the system program version of your RD-08.
  1. Press [ MENU ] to invoke the MENU screen.
  2. Use the cursor [ V ] button to select INFORMATION, then press the [ ENTER ] button.
    The version information screen appears.
* If this shows the latest version, there's no need to update your RD-08.

Change the specifications
  • The USB Audio Interface function is now available.
  • Added the "USB Driver" setting to SYSTEM > GENERAL.
    For setup instructions, refer to "Editing the system settings (SYSTEM)" in the Owner's Manual.
    • VENDOR: Choose this to use the RD-08's dedicated driver provided by Roland. Both MIDI and audio can be used.
    • GENERIC: Choose this when using the standard USB driver that was provided with your operating system.
    * Changes to the USB driver settings take effect when you restart the unit.
    * RD-08 Upgrade is required to use DAW control.
  • The default value for Auto Off has been changed to 20 minutes.
    * For information on the Auto Off function, please refer to the [Parameter Guide].
WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO UPDATE
  • RD-08
  • USB Memory
    * The USB Memory need to be formatted on a RD-08.
CAUTION WHEN PERFORMING THE UPDATE
  • Never apply this update data to any product other than the RD-08. This update data may destroy the data or system program of other products.
  • Never power-off your RD-08 while the update is in progress!
    If a power failure or similar accident occurs during the update process, the RD-08 won't be able to start up in normal operating mode. This will require servicing, so you will need to contact Roland service center near you if this occurs.
  • We regret that we are unable to answer questions regarding the update procedure using this system program. Please perform the update responsibly, following the directions given in this document.
GETTING THE UPDATE FILE
  1. Read the software license agreement at the bottom of the screen and select the "I agree" check box.
  2. Click the "Download" button to download the system program (rd08_sys_v101.zip).
  3. Unarchive the downloaded file.
    • Windows: Right-click the file and select "Extract All," then click "Extract".
    • macOS: Double-click the file to unzip it.
PROCEDURE FOR THE UPDATE
Creating the Update USB Memory
  1. Copy update files MI093_UPA_up.bin to the root directory of a USB Memory.

Update Procedure
  1. Connect the USB Memory to the USB MEMORY port.
  2. Hold down the [ OTHER ] button and turn on the power.
    The message " RD-08 Updater... " appears on the display, and the update operation starts.
    * Continue to hold down the [ OTHER ] button until " RD-08 Updater... " appears on the display.
  3. When the message " Please power off " appears, the update operation has finished.
    * The update operation takes about 2 minutes.
  4. Press the power button to turn off the power.
    Detach the USB Memory from the RD-08.

    This completes the update operation. The new system program runs at the next startup.
    Follow the procedure for verifying the version to verify that the version has been updated.
